about
This has been one of the most challenging, yet rewarding projects I've ever worked on in my life. Playing every instrument, singing every voice, recording and mixing on my own, this entire process has been so cathartic, so transformative, that it has changed the way I write. I have so many ideas right now for where to go next I almost overwhelm myself. I chose to share "Get Me Through" first because of how personal a song it is. I've never written so honestly before and even though it's a quieter song it feels really good to start this new phase and this new collection of music with a big piece of my heart. I hope you enjoy.
lyrics
If I open my mouth will my mind spill out?
I can slow it down with a smile grown in the ground
Will she fly if I fall, do I dare risk it all?
The fire cracks in my palm, I exhale my doubts
I woke up on the carpet, the pillow offered no warmth
I believed the prophet when my mother took me to church
Closed my eyes, held my breath, the water took its turn
This might be a problem, but it's none of your concern
I don't know the answer; the question is far too vague
It's like wishing for cancer to give you something to save
She loves me so, I've cracked my brave face
I don't ever have to ask her, I know it when she looks my way
Though my head is broken, I sing for you
I feel like I've stolen my luck to sing for you
You make me hold on because you'll see me through
You make me hold on, you get me through
